OUR STORY

SER Metro Detroit began the SER YouthBuild Learning Academy with 50 students in 2009 in an effort to support students who were aging out of traditional high school that did not have anywhere to complete their high school diploma.

The school has grown to having over 200 students ages 14-21 enrolled each year. The 2022-2023 school year kicked off SER YouthBuild Learning Academy’s first year as a Charter School authorized by Detroit Public Schools Community District.

SER YouthBuild Learning Academy has always been driven by a mission to serve youth that need to complete their degree, connect to a vocation or career path, and get connected to a long term strategy for success.
